About the Mentorship Program

The Mentorship Program connects emerging Afrodescendant artists with experienced professionals in the art world. Mentors may choose to participate as paid mentors (compensated competitively for up to 12 hours over six months) or as volunteers.

Pairings are driven by mentee requests (artists in the Foundation’s community who have received funding from the Foundation), ensuring that each mentorship relationship is mutually beneficial. To initiate a pairing, both mentor and mentee must agree to work together. Mentors are expected to align with the Foundation’s values: integrity, collaboration, generosity, aesthetics, excellence, financial self-sufficiency, and continuous learning.

Objective

The Mentorship Program fosters meaningful exchanges where mentors give back while mentees receive personalized support. Thoughtful pairings ensure a dynamic exchange of knowledge, experience, and professional growth.
